TechSoup Stock allows non-profits to buy software for their organizations at deep discounts. For example, the fee for Microsoft Office 2007 Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and others) is $20.00! Not all discounts are that good, and you'll have to poke around a bit to figure things out, but it's well worth it if you need software. www.techsoup.org/stock/default.asp

Diane,
(from Alger-Sullivan Historical Society)
It takes 2-3 weeks for registration to complete. What is the possibility for you or someone else already registered with techsoup to order MS Office 2007 for us while we're in the process of registering? Is that an ethical thing to do? The problem is that the time frame for ordering is June 30.
Please reply here and to ashs@algersullivan.org
Thanks,
Jerry Simmons ASHS

I'm sorry, Jerry, but I am not registered with them. I found it by chance and didn't realize it took so long for the process.
Perhaps they will hold your order pending the completion of your registration. That savings is certainly worth chasing a few people at TechSoup. I can't imagine why it should take so long to register except that they are probably going to check to make sure you're legit.
Sorry -- I wish I could help.

Diane, They ran the application through very quickly - in time for us to order the Microsoft Office software I wanted! I had to purchase 5 "seats," however, at $20.00 each. But that was still a bargain by anyone's book. I plan to install one here, one at another member's house and I think a sister organization in Brewton will take a couple of them. All legal and on the up-and-up! Thanks for putting that on the site - it is well worth our membership price! Just kidding. Anyone who needs mush of anything in the IT field should check it out - www.techsoup.orgJerry Simmons Alger-Sullivan Historical Society Century, FL

Very good! I'm glad they were able to rush everything through and provide such a great deal. I just paid about $150 for Office 2007 that only has Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I was tempted to get the 2007 package for our Museum, but we certainly don't need five packages and can get by fine with our 2003 Office suite.
